High levels of the fatty tissue between the organs in the abdomen (visceral fat) have a direct correlation with heart disease and diabetes. The European Journal of Obesity published a study on visceral fat’s response to an exercise program with the Power Plate®. The study involved four groups. Diet only, diet & fitness program, diet & Power Plate® program and a Control group. Each group followed their program with body composition checks at three, six and 12 months. In all active groups, their body weight reduced significantly, by as much as 5% after the first six months! The Power Plate group, however, was the only group that managed to maintain a total weight loss of 10% after a total of 12 months! Aside from overall weight loss, the visceral fat was lowest after 12 months in the Power Plate® group. The Diet & Diet/Fitness groups both returned to their baseline of visceral fat by the end of the 12 month study. The Power Plate’s ability to prevent the creation of new fat cells has been cited as the champion in this study.
