Meet the Chiropractors
Cynthia Boyd, DC
Oversight Director & Chiropractic Physician
Initiating positive, permanent change in the body without drugs or invasive surgery puts Dr. Cynthia Boyd, D.C. of Symmetry Health Center at the forefront of an advanced type of chiropractic knowledge and care known as Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®). As one of the only CBP® practitioners in the East Bay, Dr. Boyd uses highly specialized techniques that put patients on a path to healing and recovery, proven far more effective than traditional chiropractic methods. Dr. Boyd says, “CBP® is to spinal care what orthodontics is to teeth – permanent change.”
Early in her education, Dr. Boyd was fortunate enough to witness the profound effects of CBP® in a small chiropractic office, where classic symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis, migraine headaches, ear infections, asthma, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and TMJ problems were commonly alleviated.
Bringing this knowledge into her own practice, Dr. Boyd is well on the way to helping develop Symmetry Health Center into The Community Resource Center for Optimal Health and Healing. As spinal health becomes more widely acknowledged for directly affecting one’s overall health and vitality, the benefits of modern chiropractic are also becoming more widely recognized.
In a natural extension of spinal healthcare, Dr. Boyd now addresses the five principles of wholistic health through her practice: Structural Chiropractic care, Physical Fitness, Nutrition, Stress Relief/Management and Sleep. She explains, “The amount of chemicals people are given as part of their health care regimen is appalling. I’m committed to helping people refocus on the body’s natural ability to heal, something that’s under-acknowledged in the current medical system.”
Dr. Boyd continues to broaden her knowledge with the most up-to-date research while pursuing the latest techniques related to a diversity of spinal issues. She attends advanced seminars on an ongoing basis and is an instructor in CBP® at Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, CA. With less than 5% of U.S. chiropractors certified in CBP®, she wanted to ensure it was taught correctly while giving back to the same institution where she received her doctorate in 2005. Being immersed in a stimulating, learning environment with the latest equipment and resources readily available to her also benefits her patients.
With a successful history of applying CBP® for everyone from children through all life stages, Dr. Boyd is always looking for newer, better ways to help her patients. She was honored for her work and contributions in CBP® with the prestigious Chiropractic BioPhysics® Chiropractor of the Year Award, 2009, at The 31st Annual CBP® Convention. In addition, Symmetry has been consistently recognized in Alameda Magazine’s “Best of Alameda” issue. Her commitment to ongoing education in her field keeps her on the leading edge of chiropractic care in the Bay Area.
Originally from Boonton, NJ, Dr. Boyd has called the city of Alameda home for several years. Prior to her post-graduate studies at Life Chiropractic College West, Dr. Boyd was a 2001 graduate of Bloomfield College, from which she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a focus on Pre-Chiropractic studies.
Dr. Boyd has always been passionate about finding ways to enrich the everyday living experience and motivate her surrounding community towards living healthier lives, people she sees not just as patients, but at her neighbors.
Rachael Stohrer, DC
Dr. Rachael Stohrer received her doctorate from Life Chiropractic College West in March 2012. As a long time patient of chiropractic, Dr. Stohrer has experienced the amazing ability the body has to heal itself when the nervous system can function without structural interference. This realization was the catalyst that motivated her to become a chiropractor.
Being involved in two life altering car accidents, she was first introduced to chiropractic at the tender age of 4. Some of her fondest memories are of her being treated by her family chiropractor in Marlton, New Jersey.
After a drunk driver hit her car head on, at age 17, she was unable to continue with gymnastics. Her chiropractor was able to gradually bring her back to a state of functioning and health. It was at that time, she became even more interested in researching natural ways to heal the body and mind.
Studying Exercise Physiology at James Madison University in Virginia, Dr. Stohrer explored all the wonders that the human body has to offer. After graduating from JMU, she worked as personal trainer, not only furthering her understanding, but also piquing her curiosity of how the systems in the body function together.
At Life Chiropractic College West, she was open to many different chiropractic techniques and attended numerous seminars to further explore her options and expand her knowledge base. She also became well acquainted with the philosophy of chiropractic, in that, each person has the tools needed to heal from the inside, as long as there is proper communication between the nervous system/brain and the rest of the body. And as a chiropractor, her job is to care for the structure of the spine so that it can continue to protect the spinal cord and nerves that connect the brain to our vital organs and muscle systems.
In practice, Dr. Stohrer gained her knowledge and clinical experience in utilizing the principles of Chiropractic BioPhysics in a flourishing office near Sacramento. She embraces the fact that learning is never truly finished and to stay up to date on the treatment of spinal issues and emerging techniques, she will attend many upcoming seminars and workshops.
Knowing the level of care provided at Symmetry Health Center, Dr. Stohrer is more than excited to be part of the team! She is looking forward to immersing herself in these new surroundings and motivating those in her community to live better, more enriched lives by taking hold of their own well being and the decisions they make regarding their health.
