Reflections on Teaching Chiropractic BioPhysics® and Serving Alameda and Rockridge
As Clinical Director of Symmetry Health Center in Alameda and Oakland CA, I recently returned from an inspiring week at the CBP® Doctor’s Institute in Eagle, ID, where I taught at the CBP® Basic Weeklong Certification course. Since around 2017, I’ve had the privilege of teaching this course annually, sharing the transformative Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®) technique with chiropractic students and practicing chiropractors. This experience not only fuels my passion for education but also strengthens my commitment to serving the communities of Alameda and the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland through advanced chiropractic care.
A Passion for Teaching and Learning at CBP® Doctor’s Institute
Teaching at the CBP® Doctor’s Institute is a highlight of my year. It’s an opportunity to connect with eager students and chiropractors who are passionate about mastering CBP®, a technique that is often underrepresented in traditional chiropractic education. This year’s course was particularly special, as I had the chance to sit in on cutting-edge lectures by Dr. Deed Harrison, the fearless leader of CBP® and the most published chiropractor in the history of our profession. His insights into spinal correction and biomechanics continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in chiropractic care, inspiring me to bring the latest advancements back to Symmetry Health Center.
As a board member of the CBP® Non-Profit, I also get to collaborate with brilliant colleagues like Dr. Joe Ferrantelli, creator of Posture Ray and Posture Screen, Dr. Jason Jaeger, founder of Universal Traction Systems, and Adrian Denewald, co-creator of the Denneroll spine orthotics. These tools and techniques are integral to the care we provide at Symmetry Health Center, where we use Denneroll orthotics daily to support spinal correction for our patients in Alameda and Rockridge. These interactions at the Institute recharge my enthusiasm for delivering evidence-based, results-driven care.
From Classroom to Clinic: A Journey Rooted in Education
Before becoming a mother, I taught at Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, CA, for four years. That experience solidified my love for teaching and staying connected to the next generation of chiropractors. When I opened Symmetry Health Center in 2006, I intentionally chose Alameda for its proximity to Life Chiropractic College West. My vision was to create a practice that not only serves the community but also acts as a resource for chiropractic students eager to learn the CBP® method. This connection allows me to mentor students and provide hands-on learning opportunities, bridging the gap between academic training and real-world practice.
