Dr. Cynthia Boyd, D.C.

Initiating positive, permanent change in the body without drugs or invasive surgery puts Dr. Cynthia Boyd, D.C. of Symmetry Health Center and the Bay Area Scoliosis Center at the forefront of an advanced type of chiropractic knowledge and care known as Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®). As one of the only CBP® practitioners in the East Bay, Dr. Cynthia Boyd uses highly specialized techniques that put patients on a path to healing and recovery, proven far more effective than traditional chiropractic methods. Dr. Boyd says, “CBP® is to spinal care what orthodontics is to teeth – permanent change.”

Lisa Houge-Boyd
Operations Manager | Team Leader
Lisa Houge-Boyd has been with Symmetry Health Center since 2006, making her a founding team member of Symmetry Health Center and the Bay Area Scoliosis Center. She has proven to be a true leader, providing clear direction and system implementation for our ever-expanding team of health care providers and assistants. Symmetry’s rapid growth and ongoing expansion of services are due in part to Lisa’s ability to manage a strong team and implement systems.
Lisa has over 25 years of customer service and team leadership experience, qualifying her as Symmetry’s Operations Manager. It is Lisa’s hard work and dedication to patient and employee satisfaction that allows Symmetry to offer the highest level of customer service. Lisa has an extensive background and understanding of the insurance billing industry as well as chiropractic patient management based on years of training and education in these areas. Lisa has also served as a weight loss and nutrition coach under the Symmetry umbrella of services and has attended both Chiropractic BioPhysics® seminars and ScoliCare® trainings through the years, and has a thorough understanding of our services both due to her training and experience as an actual patient.
Dr. Cameron Penta, D.C.
Chiropractic Case Manager | CBP® Certified Provider | ScoliBalance® Certified Assistant
Dr. Cameron Penta, D.C., received his doctorate from Life Chiropractic College West in June 2017. His journey began in high school when he sustained multiple injuries while participating in sports. This led him to seek care from a physical therapist, inspiring him to pursue a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. However, his path shifted after meeting a chiropractor who reshaped his perspective on healing the human body. From that moment, Dr. Penta shadowed several chiropractors before ultimately deciding to become one himself. During his chiropractic studies, he recognized his potential to help others through various modalities.
Dr. Brian Lee, D.C.
Chiropractic Associate | CBP® Trained Rehabilitation Assistant | ScoliBalance® Certified Assistant
Dr. Brian Lee, D.C., earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College West (LCCW) in December 2018 and joined the Symmetry Health Center team in February 2019. He has since become a vital member of our chiropractic staff, serving patients at both our Oakland and Alameda locations. During his time at LCCW, Dr. Lee explored a wide range of chiropractic techniques, fueling his passion for learning and mastery in the field. After extensive study, he chose to specialize in Chiropractic Biophysics® (CBP®) and joined Symmetry Health Center to pursue this expertise. Under the mentorship of Dr. Boyd, Dr. Lee continues to refine his skills in CBP® while attending advanced continuing education courses on the spine, as well as nutrition and longevity. Dr. Lee is certified in the ScoliBalance® method, allowing support for patients with scoliosis and thoracic hyperkyphosis. He is also apprenticing Dr. Boyd on ScoliBrace® case management, furthering his understanding of the complex condition.
Dr. Alex Kha, D.C.
Chiropractic Case Manager | Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®) Certified Provider
Dr. Alex Kha, D.C., earned his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College West in September 2020. Since joining Symmetry Health Center and The Bay Area Scoliosis Center, he has been an integral team member, contributing in multiple capacities, including patient care, X-ray analysis, staff training. In 2022, Dr. Kha began specialized training in ScoliBrace® and ScoliBalance®, enabling him to support Dr. Boyd with complex scoliosis cases. He continues to deepen his expertise in scoliosis under Dr. Boyd’s mentorship.
In 2023, Dr. Kha took a leave of absence to travel across Asia and other destinations, gaining new perspectives that have enriched his approach to patient care. Now back at Symmetry Health Center, he brings renewed passion and expertise to the team.
Dr. Samantha E. Chenkin, D.C., MS, CPT
Associate Chiropractor | CBP® Certified Provider | ScoliBalance® Certified Assistant
Dr. Samantha Chenkin discovered her calling for healthcare and human performance early in life, driven by a strong curiosity about the human body and holistic health. As a Division I student-athlete at the University of Miami, she earned her B.S. in Exercise Physiology. Competing in both cross-country and rowing, Dr. Chenkin developed a keen interest in optimizing movement, preventing injuries, and maximizing functional health and human performance. This passion guided her to pursue further education at LIU Brooklyn, where she completed her Master’s in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition while gaining significant experience as a Tier 3 Personal Trainer at Equinox Fitness in NYC.
Becoming a chiropractor emerged as a natural step to dive deeper into health and wellness, offering her the ability to adjust and examine the spine in greater depth. Dr. Chenkin earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida in March 2024. Throughout her studies, she became a dedicated proponent of Chiropractic Biophysics® (CBP®) and is certified in the method.
Cinthea Davis, BS, CPT
ScoliBalance® Certified Assistant | CBP® Trained Rehabilitation Assistant | K-Laser® Certified
Cinthea Davis BS, CPT joined the Symmetry Scoliosis and Symmetry Health Center team’s in 2023 with a myriad of experience in exercise and movement. While in undergraduate college, she grew a professional admiration for health and exercise science by working in the athletic department and student recreation center at UC Riverside. It was there she developed a passion for educating, uplifting, and encouraging health and wellness through the pillars of health: exercise, diet, and sleep/restoration. Cinthea graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Neuroscience (2021) while simultaneously pursuing health and exercise sciences through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the International Sport Sciences Association. In 2022, she worked as a rehabilitation assistant working with chronic pain and postoperative patients in a busy Physical Therapy clinic . Since completing her undergraduate degree, she has worked closely with Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPT) and exercise specialists learning from the best in the industry. The foundation of her career has propelled and inspired her to pursue a Doctoral degree as a Physical Therapist with an emphasis in retraining the body with recovery and rehabilitation.
Ariana Fuentes, BS, CPT
ScoliBalance® Certified Assistant | CBP® Trained Rehabilitation Assistant | K-Laser® Certified
Ariana is a dedicated fitness professional with a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from California State University, East Bay, and a Personal Training certification from the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). With over seven years of experience in the fitness industry, she specializes in injury rehabilitation, holistic wellness, and scoliosis therapy, helping clients rebuild strength, confidence, and mobility. Trained in Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®) rehabilitation, Ariana integrates advanced spinal correction techniques to support her clients’ recovery and alignment goals.
A lifelong athlete, Ariana competed in soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and softball, including two years playing semi-professional soccer in Oakland. Her 19-year soccer career informs her work as a private soccer coach, where she blends athletic performance with injury prevention strategies. During her time at Cal State East Bay, she worked as a personal trainer for 2.5 years, serving faculty and staff, and supported the Kinesiology department as a student assistant during her internship, gaining expertise in exercise programming and client care.
DeVanae Harris
Patient Coordinator | K-Laser® Certified Assistant
DeVanae is an Oakland native who joined the Symmetry team as a Front Desk Assistant in 2021 and quickly felt right at home. With a background in customer service, she strives to make every patient interaction as easy and pleasant as possible. She has always held an interest in health and wellness which began in her youth. She was in the Health Academy in high school and was initially completing prerequisites in college to pursue nursing. After deciding nursing was not the right path for her, she moved her focus toward expanding her knowledge of healing the mind and body naturally. She knew she wanted to be in an environment where she could pursue her passion for helping others and felt happy to find her place at Symmetry.
Breanne Sylvester, BCST, RCST, APP, RPP
Patient Coordinator | Rehabilitation Assistant
Bre is a compassionate healer and wellness advocate with over a decade of experience in alternative therapies and sports medicine. Her journey into holistic healing ignited as a teenager following a back injury, fueling a profound curiosity about the body’s innate capacity for restoration through movement, nutrition, and non-invasive modalities. A lifelong athlete and dedicated soccer player, Bre draws on her own resilience to guide clients toward balanced, empowered wellness, blending therapeutic touch with practical exercise strategies.
Bre first joined Symmetry Health Center in 2012, where she honed her skills in supporting clients’ recovery and performance. After a purposeful hiatus to raise her children, she returned with renewed vigor, eager to integrate her expertise in energy work and somatic practices. Her professional foundation includes hands-on roles in sports medicine as both a front desk agent and exercise therapist, where she developed a keen understanding of injury prevention and rehabilitation. Certified in Craniosacral Therapy (BCST & RCST) and Polarity Therapy (APP & RPP), along with Reiki Levels I & II, Somatic Healing, and Human Design, Bre creates personalized sessions that address physical, emotional, and energetic imbalances.
Daffnie Cruz
Administrative and Business Support Professional | Patient Coordinator | Remote Team Member
Daffnie joined Symmetry Health Center in the summer of 2025 as part of the clinic’s growing remote team—an initiative designed to welcome exceptional talent who share our commitment to organization, efficiency, and compassionate care.
A licensed Aeronautical Engineer turned administrative professional, Daffnie’s background in systems, structure, and people management allows her to bring clarity and precision to Symmetry’s internal processes. Before joining the team, she supported small businesses and startups in operations, HR, and marketing—building a strong foundation in both technical and creative collaboration.
At Symmetry, Daffnie provides administrative and business support that keeps the clinic’s operations running smoothly. She also coordinates directly with patients through email and other communication channels, ensuring their questions and scheduling needs are handled promptly and with care.
John Angelo Medina “Gelo”
Administrative Assistant | Patient Coordinator | Remote Team Member
Bringing over a decade of experience in customer support and administrative operations, John Angelo Medina—fondly called Gelo—adds precision, empathy, and organization to Symmetry Health Center’s administrative team. Before joining Symmetry in the summer of 2025, Gelo spent 11 years in the customer service industry and two years as a Client Information Specialist, developing his strength in communication, workflow management, and client care.
As part of Symmetry’s remote operations team, Gelo plays a key role in ensuring smooth coordination between patients and the clinic, helping deliver the same level of care and responsiveness our patients expect—no matter where he’s working from. Gelo values Symmetry’s commitment to blending innovation with compassion.
