chiropractors Dr. Cynthia Boyd, DC

Dr. Cynthia Boyd, DC
Oversight Director / CBP Certified Instructor / ScoliBrace and ScoliBalance Advanced Certified Provider

Initiating positive, permanent change in the body without drugs or invasive surgery puts Dr. Cynthia Boyd, D.C. of Symmetry Health Center and the Bay Area Scoliosis Center at the forefront of an advanced type of chiropractic knowledge and care known as Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®). As one of the only CBP® practitioners in the East Bay, Dr. Cynthia Boyd uses highly specialized techniques that put patients on a path to healing and recovery, proven far more effective than traditional chiropractic methods. Dr. Boyd says, “CBP® is to spinal care what orthodontics is to teeth – permanent change.”

Early in her education, Dr. Boyd was fortunate enough to witness the profound effects of CBP® in a small chiropractic office, where classic symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis, migraine headaches, ear infections, asthma, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and TMJ problems were commonly alleviated.

Bringing this knowledge into her own practice, Dr. Boyd is well on the way to helping develop Symmetry Health Center into The Community Resource Center for Optimal Health and Healing. As spinal health becomes more widely acknowledged for directly affecting one’s overall health and vitality, the benefits of modern chiropractic are also becoming more widely recognized.

In a natural extension of spinal healthcare, Dr. Cynthia Boyd now addresses the five principles of wholistic health through her practice: Structural Chiropractic care, Physical Fitness, Nutrition, Stress Relief/Management and Sleep. She explains, “The amount of chemicals people are given as part of their health care regimen is appalling. I’m committed to helping people refocus on the body’s natural ability to heal, something that’s under-acknowledged in the current medical system.”

Dr. Boyd continues to broaden her knowledge with the most up-to-date research while pursuing the latest techniques related to a diversity of spinal issues. She attends advanced seminars on an ongoing basis and is an instructor in CBP® at Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, CA. With less than 5% of U.S. chiropractors certified in CBP®, she wanted to ensure it was taught correctly while giving back to the same institution where she received her doctorate in 2005. Being immersed in a stimulating, learning environment with the latest equipment and resources readily available to her also benefits her patients.

With a successful history of applying CBP® for everyone from children through all life stages, Dr. Boyd is always looking for newer, better ways to help her patients. She was honored for her work and contributions in CBP® with the prestigious Chiropractic BioPhysics® Chiropractor of the Year Award, 2009, at The 31st Annual CBP® Convention. In addition, Symmetry has been consistently recognized in Alameda Magazine’s “Best of Alameda” issue. Her commitment to ongoing education in her field keeps her on the leading edge of chiropractic care in the Bay Area.

Originally from Boonton, NJ, Dr. Cynthia Boyd has called the city of Alameda home for several years. Prior to her post-graduate studies at Life Chiropractic College West, Dr. Boyd was a 2001 graduate of Bloomfield College, from which she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a focus on Pre-Chiropractic studies.

Dr. Boyd has always been passionate about finding ways to enrich the everyday living experience and motivate her surrounding community towards living healthier lives, people she sees not just as patients, but at her neighbors.

Dr. Cameron Penta, D.C.

Dr. Cameron Penta, D.C.
Chiropractic Case Manager | Team Leader | ScoliBalance Certified Provider | Treating Chiropractor Oakland and Alameda

Dr. Cameron Penta D.C. received his doctorate from Life Chiropractic College West in June of 2017. This Journey began in High School, when Cameron sustained multiple injuries while participating in sports. This lead him to receive the care of a Physical Therapist. From this experience, he chose to follow through and pursue a Physical Therapy Doctorate. This quickly changed when he met a Chiropractor redirected his view on how to heal the human frame. From that point forward, Dr. Penta shadowed multiple Chiropractors before making the ultimate decision to in fact become a Chiropractor. During his studies as a Chiropractor, Dr. Penta realized his potential for helping others through many different modalities.

In his undergraduate studies, he studied exercise science with an emphasis in nutrition. Starting Chiropractic school at the age of 22, Dr. Penta was exposed to the many different techniques the profession had to offer. Early on in his chiropractic education he discovered Chiropractic Biophysics Technique (CBP). In Dr. Penta’s last year at LCCW, he attended a lecture where he heard Dr. Boyd speak about her CBP practices in Alameda and Oakland. Learning about Symmetry Health Center that day was very profound, and led him to inquire about an internship which led to a full-time position upon graduation.

Dr. Penta is excited to provide his knowledge of Chiropractic Biophysics learned under Dr. Cynthia Boyd for the past 3 years. Currently, Dr. Penta is finishing his credentials in the CCEP course (Certified Chiropractic Extremity Practitioner), to help provide another level of service that is close to his heart as a long-standing athlete. In Dr. Penta’s spare time, he can be found rock climbing in the local gyms, working out, or adventuring into the backcountry on the weekends! Dr. Penta is excited to be a part of the Symmetry Health Center team, helping the Alameda and Oakland communities have a better understanding of what health means.

Alex Kha

Dr. Alex Kha D.C.
Chiropractic Case Manager | Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®) Certified Provider

Dr. Alex Kha D.C. received his Doctorate in Chiropractic from Life Chiropractic College West in September of 2020. Shortly after, Dr. Kha joined Symmetry Health Center and became an integral part of the team doing everything from assisting patients with traction and exercise, to treating patients, measuring and analyzing X-Rays, training staff, and doing exams. In 2022, he completed the ScoliBrace® seminar allowing him to further assist Dr. Boyd with her complicated scoliosis cases at the Bay Area Scoliosis Center.

In 2023, Dr. Kha went on leave to travel to Asia and other interesting places. He recently returned to Symmetry and we are excited to have his expertise and experience with a new sense of purpose.

Dr. Kha’s journey to becoming a chiropractor is unique. As a college senior, Dr. Kha took a part-time chiropractic assistant job at a local chiropractic office (on a whim). During his time there, he witnessed many patients show significant improvements in their health and get relief in ways he didn’t know possible. He saw the doctors perform nothing short of everyday miracles, changing people’s lives for the better. After college graduation and a year at the front desk, his experience motivated him to further his education and pursue a career in chiropractic.

In the winter of 2017, Dr. Kha began his studies at Life Chiropractic College West. Engaged in his experience, he was especially interested in Chiropractic Biophysics® (CBP®) and the amazing work it has done for the chiropractic profession in its mission to produce mounds of research on spinal correction techniques. Dr. Kha also studied such techniques as Applied Kinesiology and ART® to name a few.

As both an active and key member of the Chiropractic BioPhysics® club on campus holding many leadership roles, he assisted his fellow students with learning the technique, eventually receiving his own CBP® certification in September of 2018. Dr. Kha was also awarded the CBP® student of year award in 2020 at the CBP Annual Convention.

Additionally, while in school, Dr. Kha was given the opportunity to participate in mission trips in China and India, providing free chiropractic care where not easily accessible. His humbling experiences on these trips only reaffirmed what he knew all along about the chiropractic profession making his decision to make a career leap that much more exciting.

Dr. Kha spends his free time with close family and friends — sharing great meals and big laughs.

Eddy Loeza, CPT, EMT

Eddy Loeza, CPT, EMT
ScoliBalance® Certified Assistant

Eddy brings a blend of experiences to Symmetry and the Bay Area Scoliosis Center. Eddy is currently pursuing higher education with the goal of attending chiropractic college in the future. Growing up an athlete, Eddy participated in various sports such as soccer, football, and martial arts, eventually leading him to join the military in 2013. Having a high drive for passion and purpose, Eddy found the military to be the ideal space where these qualities converged.

During his military service, Eddy underwent one of his most challenging training experiences, transitioning from infantry to a sniper. Each step in this journey demanded a higher degree of self-discipline, adaptability, and capability. Working alongside elite forces such as Navy SEALs, Green Berets, and other special operation units, one principle always stuck out—not only do you need to fully understand your role, but You also need to be capable of understanding and performing everyone else’s role. From the medics, all the way down to knowing how to handle a radio, the goal was to always be a self-sufficient team.

Post-military service, Eddy attended City College of San Francisco, earning his certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in 2019. Building on his medical expertise, he pursued additional courses such as advanced skills for EMS providers, EKG interpretation, and TCCC, drawing from his military background. After working in a prehospital setting, witnessing the impact of emergency care firsthand, Eddy progressed towards preventative healthcare, becoming a certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and earning a nutrition certificate. His focus extended to injury prevention and rehabilitation, assisting athletes in competition preparation, and guiding individuals on weight loss.

Joining Symmetry in 2023, his experience here has been a progressively elevating journey, supporting patients in their care and rehabilitation process. Due to his background in healthcare and management, Eddy was given the opportunity to become a ScoliBalance® certified assistant through ScoliCare®. This area of study has allowed Eddy to work with children and adults diagnosed with scoliosis under the supervision of Dr. Boyd. Utilizing Chiropractic Biophysics® fundamentals, ScoliBalance® and the best of the Schroth method; Eddy has been a great addition to Team Symmetry!

Eddy currently attends Chabot College in Hayward finishing his prerequisite studies toward his doctorate. He spends his free time as a personal trainer and continues to work alongside military and paramilitary organizations as an instructor.
