Why We Give. The Nonprofit Behind Every Adjustment at Symmetry Health Center

I am from Boonton, New Jersey, and I knew Dr. Thomas Dandrea before he was a chiropractor. On a whim and while he was studying at Life University in Atlanta, he took me to see Dr. Don Harrison speak at an event, and something clicked. That evening, Don’s lecture, and then Tommy explaining what Chiropractic BioPhysics® (CBP®) actually was, was the moment that defined the beginning of my career.

Don Harrison was the founder of CBP®. He had degrees in mathematics, mechanical engineering, and chiropractic, and he believed the spine deserved the same scientific scrutiny as any structure in nature. Tommy went on to open Monmouth Pain and Rehabilitation in 1998 as a one-room office in Red Bank, and I watched him build it into a multi-disciplinary center across Monmouth and Ocean counties. I saw him put into practice what he’d learned from Don and that was the proof I needed.

Years later, I helped found Monmouth Scoliosis Center in Wall, N.J. with Dr. Tommy, where I maintain a NJ State Chiropractic license and continue to advise on patient care . I am also a board member of CBP® Non-Profit, the 501(c)(3) Don Harrison started in 1982, now led by their son Dr. Deed Harrison. I am grateful every day for the full circle career I have built with such deep roots.

Through the years, Don and his colleagues published over 300 peer-reviewed studies, funded scholarships, and donated equipment to chiropractic colleges. Every protocol we use at Symmetry, (the mirror-image adjustments, the extension traction, the postural rehabilitation) traces back to that research.

I have served on the CBP® board for years, and I can tell you this is a lean, mission-driven organization. The leadership takes no salary. Every dollar goes to research, education, and advancing the science of structural chiropractic care.

This is why I’m asking our patients to consider supporting it. Donations are tax-deductible, and the nonprofit offers recurring memberships starting at about $42 a month for Silver, up through Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Double Diamond tiers. Even a small monthly gift compounds into real research funding over time.

If the care you’ve received here has made a difference in your life, this is one way to make sure that science keeps advancing for the next generation of patients.

In Gratitude,

Dr. Cynthia Boyd D.C.
