Is Chiropractic Just for Injury and Posture?

Is Chiropractic Just for Injury and Posture?

Have you heard that chiropractic treatment is beneficial for various ailments and injury, including chronic back pain and sports-related injuries? Chiropractic therapy is well-known for treating inflammation, discomfort, deterioration, misalignment, and a variety of neuromusculoskeletal issues. However, there is more to chiropractic therapy than meets the eye.

Chiropractic care, when used correctly, can be a useful technique for promoting health and healing on many levels. In addition to being a powerful tool for those who have ailments or imbalances in their bodies, chiropractic therapy may also assist with living an active and successful life. Read on to learn what chiropractic treatment can do for you—even if you believe yourself to be healthy!

I don’t have an injury or poor posture. Would I still benefit from chiropractic care?

A common misunderstanding about chiropractic care is that you won’t experience any benefits from it if you don’t have any health problems. It’s difficult to pinpoint where this misconception originates, although many people feel the same way about medical care, massage therapy, laser therapy, and other types of wellness care. The belief “I don’t need care because I’m already healthy” is widely held but untrue. As we know, even people without health issues can benefit from regular chiropractic adjustments.

Are you actually healthy, or just used to being unhealthy?

Many individuals believe that they are healthy. Many people believe they are healthy until they get a serious illness or disability diagnosis. Odd symptoms that were previously ignored make sense after all. The reality is that the majority of us tend to ignore symptoms on a daily basis. Every day, we simply pass off various signs as being caused by “age,” stress, or “not enough sleep.”

Back Pain

Back pain is one of the most common symptoms that people overlook. Back discomfort might be a dull, aching, sharp, throbbing, chilly or hot sensation pain, or shooting, unpredictable electrical-like pain. You might attribute back discomfort to an old injury, poor sleeping habits, age, negative genetics, or a variety of other reasons if you have it.

Neck Pain

Neck discomfort is another type of pain that many people overlook, as it can be hard to diagnose and treat. Neck pain could be attributed to poor posture, a “bad neck,” repeated sitting and hunching forward, too much reading or texting, age and deterioration, and other factors.

Facial Pain

Do you ever have any facial discomfort? This might feel like uncomfortable pressure, throbbing pain in the cheeks or near the eyes or brow, or sharp, stabbing pains near the jaw. The most common reason that people blame their facial pain on is sinus discomfort, yet it isn’t the only cause of facial suffering.

Headaches, Eye Aches, and Migraines

Stress, tiredness, eye strain, computer use, excessive reading or phone usage, and poor eyesight are all thought to cause headaches, eye aches, and migraines. While researchers don’t know what causes migraines specifically, they are certainly linked to stress. There currently isn’t a proven traditional “cure” for migraines if you take painkillers for headaches, eye aches, and migraines.

Acid Reflux and Indigestion

Although you may automatically assume that indigestion stems from what you ate, this isn’t always the case. If you frequently suffer from heartburn or other forms of stomach discomfort, chances are you keep a stash of antacids nearby to help ease the pain. However, overusing these medications can actually damage your digestive system in the long run. In some cases, acid reflux and indigestion stem from problems with the nervous system rather than digestion itself.

Stiffness and Immobility

It’s easy to blame stiffness and immobility on age, and it makes sense. What most people don’t realize is that stiffness and immobility can be prevented and relieved with appropriate treatment. When the body isn’t moved in ways that challenge, gently warm, stretch, and excite the neuromusculoskeletal system over time, stiffness and immobility are likely to develop. The bones, joints, tendons, muscles, and nerves of the body are all components of the neuromusculoskeletal system.

Sciatica

Sciatica is a nerve pain that runs from the lower back, through the buttocks and down the legs. Sometimes it affects both legs at once, sometimes just one. Sciatica often starts with an injury to your body which causes misalignment in your spinal joints. When these spinal joints are out of place, they can cause inflammation of nearby nerves. This is what creates shooting sciatic pain; as sciatic pain comes from one of the major low-back nerves that become irritated when the joints are out of alignment.

Fatigue

What causes fatigue? Is it simply a matter of saying that as we grow older, our energy reserves diminish? Not necessarily. Most individuals are unaware of why they become fatigued or attribute it to autoimmune diseases, other diseases and disorders, or personal habits.

Poor Posture

Poor posture isn’t only a sign of getting older. If that were the case, we wouldn’t see as many children with hunched, rounded shoulders and forward-head posture (also known as “text neck”) as we do. Instead, poor posture is generally the consequence of spine misalignment. This happens when the bones and joints in the back shift out of alignment for any reason, such as injury, lifestyle, or birth defects (occasionally a combination of all four).

Can chiropractic help conditions that I thought were just a normal part of life?

Yes! Even conditions you thought were “part of growing older” or “due to an injury that never healed properly” might be treatable by chiropractic.

Chiropractic treatment focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal system. The neuromusculoskeletal system is in charge of maintaining the health and connection between the nervous system, muscular system, and skeletal system. When these systems are out of balance, due to lifestyle, accident, or hereditary causes, they can produce a variety of unpleasant symptoms or problems. Back pain is just one example among many.

What makes the neuromusculoskeletal system special?

The neuromusculoskeletal system is immense and influential because it consists of three vital body systems. Given that these systems are integral to other processes, an imbalance in one area can have a domino effect on the others. For instance, if the skeletal system is thrown off-kilter, nearly every other system suffers as well since the skeleton has various responsibilities that establish a foundation for normal organ function.

Example:

A patient comes to the clinic with severe, frequent head pain. The headaches occur whether the individual gets 8 hours of sleep or not, and they appear to be independent of screen time or lack of sleep. After several adjustments based on the patient’s x-rays (corrective chiropractic), the patient says that they have stopped experiencing headaches. According to the treating chiropractor, misalignment in the patient’s cervical spine joints was causing interference with nerve energy and circulation flow, accounting for frequent headaches.

How Chiropractic Can Boost Your Enjoyment of Active Hobbies

Chiropractic can assist you whether you have an illness, injury, bothersome symptom, or simply wish to enhance the quality of your life.

In several ways, chiropractic care can improve how well you do athletically, and make exercising a more positive experience. Chiropractic care can increase the ease of movement for your body as a whole, making your joints, ligaments, and tendons more limber, and improving muscle elasticity and flexibility. Also, because the nervous system is supported so much by chiropractic treatment, it can help with your physical response time, speed, and stamina.

Professional athletes love chiropractic, including Lance Armstrong and Michael Jordan. Hikers, bikers, basketball players, football players, yoga asana practitioners, runners, boxers, wrestlers, and many other sportspeople credit it for improving their abilities and supporting their performance.

How Chiropractic Can Boost Your Enjoyment of Leisure Time

A lot of our free time is spent not moving. This includes when we’re hanging out, sitting down, or generally taking it easy. Although this may not seem like labor to many people, it actually does require some effort from the body to stay in these positions. For instance, sitting up straight takes alignment of the spine. And lying down entails that the bones and muscles are all working properly; otherwise, pain (such as sciatica) and discomfort can occur.

When people reach their golden years, they frequently believe that their physical abilities are declining as a result of normal age-related deterioration. This may make even pleasant, leisure activities difficult, inconvenient, or less pleasurable than they once were.

Chiropractic care can help you to enjoy your leisure time more by making your body more comfortable. By experiencing regular chiropractic care, you can enhance every aspect of your life!
