Chiropractic Might And Eyesight

Consider this study, published in 1984 in the Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It evaluated 114 cases of cervical spondylosis, or age-related wear and tear on the spinal disks in the neck. Of 54 cases researchers followed for at least half a year, 91.1 percent showed lasting effects.
How can chiropractic care affect eyesight? In 1995, chiropractor Allan Terrett and ophthalmologist Frank Gorman researched 71 references to ocular changes associated with manipulation or adjustment. They concluded that the changes were linked to the blood supply to the eyes, which can be disrupted by a misaligned spine – a shift that moves the bones in your spine out of position and impedes the nerve pathways associated with that area of the spine.
The spine, after all, encloses the nervous system, which is responsible for every function of the body, including your eyes. If your neck is out of alignment, the nerves going to the vertebral arteries may constrict the arteries. As a result, the cells of the retina and other structures of the eye cannot function at peak performance.
